Matcha green tea and flakey coconut combine inside a snappy dark chocolate shell to create an easy sweet vegan + paleo treat with just 6 ingredients!
Inspired by the ever so delicious Matcha Boom Bars from a company called Nanuki that I discovered while visiting Cape Town (that sadly don’t ship to the US *insert sobbing emoji here*), these chocolate covered matcha bars are the perfect not too sweet but still decadent way to eat matcha for dessert.
Matcha and coconut combine to create the gorgeous green inside, and then we hide all of that inside a silky dark chocolate coating. If you’ve never tried matcha with chocolate I highly recommend. And I highly recommend you start with THESE bars.
I can’t claim my homemade version is AS good as Nanuki, but they are pretty damn delish!

Oooooh hadn’t even thought of that! Thank you my sweet friend💚
You’ve done it again, Natalie! I have gotten SUPER picky about my matcha because the purest form tastes superior to all the others (including culinary!). These bars look absolutely addictive–I can imagine how delicious the filling AND the melted chocolate was! 🙂
Yes quality makes SO much difference when it comes to matcha. I hate when you got to a coffee shop and order matcha and it’s just awful lol😜😂 Encha is awesome in my opinion, and especially delicious in chocolate covered bar form😋 Hope you give them a try!
Do you know if sweetened coconut flakes would work? I only have sweetened but these are calling my name!
That will work, yes! Just make the filling a little sweeter, but they aren’t overly sweet as is so it will be fine 🙂
Hi! I just stumbled upon your AMAZING website while I was Pinteresting and I’ve been looking at just your site for at least an hour and I got on Pinterest to look at hair ideas but this just sucked me in! Lol Anyway, I really want to try matcha but I don’t have any and hate to buy an entire container just to try it so may I ask what it tastes like and is it gritty at all?! I’ll take all the help I can get before I buy some! Thanks and thank you so much for sharing so much on your website!
Hahaha oh how Pinterest has a way of taking us on tangents we didn’t even know we needed😆 But matcha is definitely one of those ingredients where quality and brand makes a HUGE difference! Personally Encha is my go-to and has been for years. I usually buy their latte grade, very mild non bitter grassy flavor and not gritty at all. It’s a little expensive, but you can get it on amazon! https://encha.com/products/vegan-latte-grade-organic-matcha
