A sweet berry vanilla cupcake transformed into a thick vegan Strawberry Cupcake Milkshake. Three creamy layers, whipped cream, sprinkles–it’s chilly dessert through a straw!
Today I’m clinking virtual milkshake glasses with the ever so talented Leah of the blog Love Me, Feed Me. We have similar sweet snacky styles, so we decided to do a mini milkshake collaboration! Mini referring to the collab since it is just the two of us, the milkshakes are certainly not mini. Not at all. In fact the milkshakes are a bit over the top in a sweet creamy perfect-for-summer way.
While brainstorming for this recipe I had so many delicious ideas worthy of a tall glass and a rainbow straw come into my milkshake-wanting mind. Many Most of them chocolatey. But I have been posting a lot of chocolate recipes lately (like these cookies and these bars and these bars), so I wanted to keep this one not chocolate.
Don’t worry, I wrote all those chocolatey concepts down. With 2+ months of summer left, there is still plenty of time for more milkshake recipes. Plus I had a hunch Leah might go in the chocolatey direction.
Strawberry Cupcake Milkshake
Strawberries are one thing that have not shown their seedy little berry selves around here in a while. And they are pretty infamous for making amazing milkshakes.
A strawberry milkshake, while delicious, isn’t anything new. A strawberry CUPCAKE milkshake that tastes like actual cupcake because there is an entire cupcake blended right cupcake in. Now that is something to crave.
I used one of my Everything-Free Vanilla Cupcakes in this milkshake, but you can use any vanilla cupcake you love. If you’ve never blended a cupcake, you must. It literally tastes like liquid cake. And an extra cupcake on top looks pretty cute too. A little something to snack while you sip.
Milkshake or Smoothie?
To anyone who says this is a smoothie, not a milkshake, answer one question: Does drinking a milkshake for breakfast sound like something you would be in to?
I thought so.
Then put your prejudice towards banana-based beverages called milkshakes aside and grab a straw! Or if it really means that much to you throw a scoop of vegan ice cream in there, it certainly can’t hurt.
Creamy chilly texture. Whipped cream on top. Sprinkles. A striped straw. Dessert-level of deliciousness. It’s a milkshake in my book!
Leah’s Mouthwatering Milkshake
Enough about this pink drink, you have to see the epic milkshake Leah blended up! I wish I could sneak a straw right into that chocolatey goodness. Leah is one of my absolute favorite bloggers, recipe creators, writers, and just human beings.
She is ridiculously creative! I have tried many of her recipes like these bars and this cake and these deliciously fun cups–all amazing and 100% recommended! And there are so many others I can’t wait to sink my snack-loving teeth into, especially these fruity crispy treats and this perfect little cupcake.
If you don’t already know and love her, then you must check out her recipes and videos!

Can’t stop staring! So PRETTY! And looks super delicious..and it’s pink!! The mini cupcake on top is just too adorable. And then there are the amazing healthy sprinkles!! I just can’t get enough of this. Will dream of this tonight and hopefully a pink milkshake Fairy will deliver this to me in the morning 🙂

Did she come? Did she come!? Because honestly a milkshake fairy beats tooth fairy any day! Sneak a milkshake under my pillow please and you can just keep the money 😀 lol Yes very pink! Once I started down the pink trail I just couldn’t stop myself. Everything pink and berry infused! Shoving a cupcake on top felt overindulgent in the best sort of fun sweet way 🙂
I’m usually a chocolate shake kinda girl, but this just looks AMAZING!! And I love the pink!! ? I’m dying over that mini cupcake, too!! So over the top, but without the guilt. I never would have thought to throw a cupcake in the blender, but watching how it all comes together is perfection!! Like cake batter ice cream, but better on so many levels. I NEED to try this asap!! Such a creative recipe, Natalie! xo
Vanilla was always my milkshake of choice, but that would’ve been way too boring! Trust me I had about 3 different chocolate ideas, and they will probably still happen eventually 🙂 The cupcake addition is so weird but good! I could happily drink just a whole glass of the cupcake layer ha! Yes just like cake batter ice cream! Which is a flavor I never knew how to recreate at home…until now that is. Thanks Mandy! Hope you are well <33
WOW. This is taking milkshake into a whole new level Natalie! I’ve never tried blended cupcake in milkshake, never even knew you could do that!!! This could be life changing experience! 🙂 Awesome on so many different levels!!! x
You have to try it!! I was worried you wouldn’t really be able to taste it, but trust me you can. Tastes just like cake 🙂 In retrospect blending a frosted cupcake would have been even more fun. Thanks Anna!
Oh my goodness!! I soooo need this in my life! I LOVE your pics! Gorgeous! Droolworthy! Delicious! Amazing! Need!
Thank you Jenn!!
What a cute idea! My kid will love it.
Thanks Becky! Yes I think the cupcake on top would attract just about any kid instantly 😀
This looks like the milkshake to end all milkshakes!! I love the three layers of flavors and the cupcake on top. Simple out of this world, Natalie!!
Hahaha! I don’t know about that, but I certainly did not want it to end 😀 Thanks Sarah!
Oh my goodness!!!! You are killing me with this! Absolutely dying to have a taste of this right now… And the way you’ve styled it is so pretty and cute. Just perfect <3
Thank you Aimee! You are the queen of super cute cupcakes, so that means a lot coming from you!! I need a frosting piping lesson from you one day 🙂
Wow wow wow wow wow wow!!!! This milkshake is sooooo beautiful! Such an amazing idea to add cupcake! Love the cupcake on top too! The ultimate strawberry decadence!!!! Yummy!

Thanks Harriet! We are both finding untraditional kinda cake things to use our sprinkles on 🙂
That is a complete meal! It looks so beautiful and very inventive. Thanks!
Hahaha! Yes it’s 3 courses: dessert, dessert, and a little dessert to finish it off 😀 Thanks Ginny!
Natalie, now you are talking my language! Rich, thick strawberry milkshake with cupcakes! YES! I love the red, pink and beige layers, it is so pretty. This my daughter would absolutely love! I love strawberries in milkshakes too, really the only way I like to “eat” them. I can just imagine this amazing sweet and fruity flavor. I loved the video too, duh, of course! I love all of your videos. This is such a wonderful idea!
Woohoo another fruit we agree on! I love them blended in stuff too…or with coconut whipped cream…or chocolate dipped. That’s what this needed, a big chocolate dipped strawberry on top, yum! I would have happily shared it with Olivia, and she’s so cute of course I would have to let her have the cupcake off the top haha! I tend not to post many smoothie recipes because everything has been done it seems, but thinking in terms of dessert-style milkshakes I have so many ideas now 🙂
I mean, strawberry cupcakes alone I’m all in, but then you add the milkshake twist and you’ve got me all drooling like a baby! Looks so pretty and usually I’d say almost too pretty to eat but forget that, get in my belly!
That’s how I feel about all your crazy epic usually chocolatey beverage recipe concoctions–almost too incredible to ruin but never quite 🙂
Thank you for all your sweet words <3 So much love for you! And this shake?! Genius!! Every bit of it has me swooning. I just want to dive right into this strawberry heaven!
You have no idea how hard a time I had picking just a few to link too! I could’ve written a paragraph with just links to recipes of yours I want to try, but I thought that might be a bit much 🙂 I’m so happy we did this!
What an awesome looking shake! I love the use of cupcakes. Any excuse to eat more cupcakes is always a good thing in my book ;0)
Haha agreed! Just like it’s easier to get in greens in blended drinkable form, the same applies to cupcakes 😀 Maybe too easy.
A milkshake collab–how fun! Possibly the tastiest collab I’ve ever heard of. Unless you do one with those chocolate ideas you mentioned… 😉 And just when I thought this milkshake couldn’t get any better, I scroll down and see an entire cupcake on top. Oh YES!! Love that you incorporated your homemade vegan sprinkles too. Can I join in the virtual glass clink? 😉 Pinning!

Of course you can join in! But bring some of your cookie dough cups, kay? We need something to wash down with all this shake sipping 🙂 I had so much fun with this one I’m ready for another milkshake collab already! I need to make all those chocolatey ideas happen still. Thanks for pinning <3
I’m speechless! This has to be the prettiest milkshake I have ever seen! I wouldn’t even want to eat it because it’s so gorgeous! Great work! Pinning!
Thank you Vanessa! I know the eat it vs stare at it struggle was tough…I ate it 😀
Mmm… I need some cupcake milkshake in my life! Actually, Rosa (on IG) once blended one of my cakes into a smoothie and I thought it was crazy but she assured me it was wonderful. Now you’re blending cupcakes into milkshakes. I think I need to start blending some baked goods too — there seems to be a trend, and I’m waaaaay behind ?
I always knew Rosa was one clever cookie! Although I don’t remember that post, I bet it was delicious! Your raw cakes blended up into a milkshake would be amazing ? Just dig around in your freezer, I’m sure you can find something to blend up!
Your desserts always look so enticing, with incredible titles, that I always forget how healthy they are Natalie!
Thank you Alisa, you are so kind 🙂
Absolutely gorgeous, Natalie! I just love your food photography!! 🙂
Thank you so much Sina! 🙂
Natalie! So here is the famous blog post to go with the IG post, cupcake milkshake. I think it should become a summer trend, don’t you? Thanks for sharing, the post images are stunning! Will certainly visit your partner in crime on this, Love Me Feed Me!!
