There is almond butter and cashew butter and coconut butter and peanut butter. There is almond milk and cashew milk and coconut milk, so why not peanut milk?
Raw peanuts are hard to find, and raw peanut butter is even harder to find. But they can be ordered online of course. As for the peanut butter, you will probably have to make your own. I came across some supposedly raw peanuts on a recent grocery excursion, so I trusted the label and bought them.
Are they truly raw? I don’t know. Are the raw almonds or cashews on the shelves truly raw? I still don’t know. I could be being extremely naive, and the truth is that they have all been pasteurized for safety reasons. There are lots of mysteries when it comes to our food supply, and those are not in my control. But I’ve got to eat something, and I choose this phenomenal milkshake. If you are concerned about the rawness of your nuts, than you can order raw jungle peanuts. If you want a milkshake that is undoubtedly raw, then use raw sprouted almonds from this trusty source instead. But the peanut milk does make for a fun new flavor.
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup peanuts
- 3/4 cup peanut milk (recipe above)
- 1 frozen banana
- 2 tbsps peanut butter
- 1 tbsp sweetener (optional)
- 8–10 strawberries (about 1 cup chopped)
- Blend everything in the blender for 2 minutes on high.
- Let it cool a bit, then strain through a nut milk bag.
- Store in the fridge.
- Blend the strawberries until smooth. Set aside.
- Blend the peanut milk, banana, and peanut butter.
- Taste it, and decide if you want to sweeten it.
- Fill a large glass or jar, alternating between strawberry puree and peanut butter milkshake to create a swirl effect.
